    The area cannot = the perimeter. I did something wrong. I should have used the formula for the perimeter of a semicircle: P = r(pi + 2).

    You say?

    the perimeter of the window includes three sides of rectangle, 6,4,6
    and the perimeter of the semicircle = πr + 2r, but for the perimeter of the window you don't need 2r=4
    the perimeter of the window is
    P=2*6+4+pi*2
    P=16+2pi

    P = 2•pi + 24 - 8

    P = 2•pi + 16
