Certification For Substitute Teachers

Should state certification be a new requirement for substitute teachers?

 

of course, for example math teacher is sic and need sub for one week
who could be sub? in my opinion (and from my experience) only certified math teacher could be substitute
if no one available, than certified physics or science teacher

 

I agree but this is not what happens in NYC public schools. Substitute teachers without training in the art of teaching cover for absent certified teachers.
