Back in my teen years, I found out that Albert Einstein failed high school math. Is this true?

Einstein didn't fail math as a child.
He scored high grades during his school days in Munich, and was only frustrated by what he described as the “mechanical discipline” demanded by his teachers.

I was told that he did poorly in high school mathematics. Am I wrong about this, too?

yes, you are wrong about this too

He had a degree and a PhD from two of the most respected institutes in Switzerland, and his academic grades throughout his life were excellent.
And quite frankly, I dare anyone who says Einstein was bad at math to go and look at General Relativity. The math is involved is heavy and complex - and Einstein integrated the whole mathematical machinery into the theory - not just some handwaving.

I was told the opposite way back in my high school days.

ight be because of his quote; "Do not worry too much about your difficulties in mathematics, I can assure you that mine are still greater." ;-)

From this simple quote people started to assume that Einstein struggled with mathematics. I never quite accepted his flaws in math as truth.
