    a)

    given: [IMG]
    and [IMG]=> means x=2

    => y approximately around 1.25

    using calculator: y=1.2599210498948731647672106072782283505702514647015079800819751121

    Part (b)

    Let cr = cube root.

    y = cr{x} = cr{5}, which means that x = 5.

    Let cr{5} be 5^(1/3) = 1.7099759467.

    Part (c)

    y = cr{x} = cr{6.5}, which means x = 6.5.

    Let cr{6.5}= (6.5)^(1/3).

    Do, (6.5)^(1/3) = 1.8662555784.

    Thank you. I hope you are having fun going through the Ron Larson textbook. We have a long way to go but notice that I have skipped many common precautions topics along the way thus far. This is because it makes no sense to post questions that I already know how to solve.
