What happens to a parabola when the number in front of x^2 is a fraction? Does the parabola shape shrink? Does the parabola shape expand?

    For example:

    Graph y = (1/2)x^2.

The equation for the graph of f(x)=x^2 that has been compressed vertically by a factor of
    1/2
    is f(x)=(1/2)x^2.

So, fractions in front of x^2 for y = x^2 compress vertically.
