If I have a variable that is off the display because of the number of
variables the data set has. How can I move that variable closer to
about the 3rd or 4th variable so that its visible on the screen all
the time? Can it be done?

First, note that you can split your DE window into four quadrants,so that you can see different variables or cases more flexibly. You can do this either by choosing Split from the Windows menu and dragging the splitter bars or by grabbing the splitter bar from the corner of the DE windows. That latter is hard to see on some screen resolutions.

The order of the variables in the DE corresponds to the order in the data file, so you can reorder variables on the GET command or other commands thathave a KEEP subcommand such as ADD FILES /FILE=* /KEEP a b c x z y.

In the data view in the DE, though, you can click down on the variable namein the header and drag it to a new position. That also changes the file order.

Thanks Jon. The last option - dragging the variable works for me.
    Thanks for your insights.
