Is it safe to say that sin x and cos x form parabola-shaped functions on the xy-plane that travel in both directions on the x-axis without bound? If so, can we say likewise about other trigonometric functions?

So a "parabolic function" is simply another (redundant) term for a quadratic polynomial. It is not quite clear which should be counted as the parabolic sine and cosine, though. But worrying too much about that is just silly.
