Whats \windows\matlab.ini there for?

  1. Hi

    My story:
I happened to run my R14 in -nojvm mode, and fancied editing my preferences.
I did, and after that, my matlab crashed so fast I couldn't read the dump
before it was gone. Restarting MatLab crashed it again, and closed after
dumping to the screen. I found the dump in a file, and it said segmentation
violation and nothing I use to fix my problem. I did what one do on windows
boxes, restarted, retried, re-installed matlab, with the "remove
    preferences, history, etc..'.

It still crashed, and I then found the \windows\matlab.ini file, which had
not been removed by the uninstall! I removed it, and I was up and running,
and matlab created a new \windows\matlab.ini

    Why is it there?
    Why am I not warned?
Why was it not removed when I uninstalled?
