what's wrong with the stsbar? what might be the reason that the two GUI component conflict?

    Dear all,

My program originally went ok. But yesterday I decided to put a status bar
under my figure window. I used the "stsbar.m" in mathwork central file
exchange. The statusbar I put at the bottom of figure window looks good
originally. It draws on an axes.

Then I brought up another window by a menu item, on it I need to show an
    axes, and use command

"rbbox" to draw a rectangle on that axes when the axes's "buttondownfcn" got
    invoked.

Previously this was ok. But after I putting the statusbar on the main figure
window, everytime I press a button on the axes in this window to draw a
rectangle on the axes, it went to dead.

I guess the "rbbox" command and the status bar conflicts with each other.
When the status bar is present, the axes can get the buttondown event; but
when it run to "rbbox" it went dead...

What might be the problem? Anybody helps me? Thanks a lot,

    -Lucy
