How do you find the x-and y-Intercepts of trig functions?
Try these two:
1. sin x + cos x
2. (sin x - cos x)/(tan x)
Try these two:
1. sin x + cos x
2. (sin x - cos x)/(tan x)
1. y=sin (x) + cos (x)
x-intercept at y=0
0=sin (x) + cos (x)
x = π*n - π/4, n element Z
y-intercept at x=0
y=sin (0) + cos (0)
y=0 + 1
y=1
![]()
2. y=(sin (x) - cos(x))/(tan( x))
x-intercept at y=0
it will be 0 if and only if sin (x) - cos(x)=0
x = π*n +π/4, n element Z
y-intercept at x=0
y=(sin (0) - cos(0))/(tan(0))
y=(0 - 1)/0-> undefined; so, there is no y-intercept
