    I will apply the Absolute Value Definition to each problem.

    Question 26

    The content inside the absolute value bars is negative.

    So, -(1 - sqrt{2}) + 1.

    -1+ sqrt{2} + 1

    Answer: sqrt{2}

    Question 28

    Since x < 3, the value inside the bars is negative.

    So, -(x - 3) = -x + 3

    Question 30

    The value inside the bars is positive.

    So, the answer is x^4 +1.

    Question 32

    The value inside the bars is negative.

    So, -(sqrt{3} - sqrt{5}) = -sqrt{3} + sqrt{5}.
