    College Algebra
    Section R.7

    Let me see.

    The first-two steps are as follows:

    1. Add the left side.
    2. Cross-multiply to find A.

    You say?

    you need A, so isolate term that contains A
    A/(x+2)=(12x-1)/(x^2-x-6) -7/(x-3).......subtract terms on right side and you get 5/(x + 2)
    A/(x+2)=5/(x + 2)
    A=(x+2)*5/(x + 2) ......simplify

    A=5
