    you found ax^2 - b x + 11)+ d/(x + 2) to be equal to x^2 - 4 x + 11)+ -17/(x + 2)

    compare:
    =>
    a=1
    b=-4
    c=11d=-17

    the sum a+b+c+d=1+(-4)+11+(-17)=-9

    I suspected that this is the requested sum but decided to do what I did.
