Find the Missing Number

    TWO TIMES A NUMBER IS SUBTRACTED FROM 13. IF THE DIFFERENCE IS 7, FIND THE NUMBER.

    Let me see.

    Let y = the number

    13 - 2y = 7

    -2y = 7 - 13

    -2y = -6

    y = -6/-2

    y = 3

    The number is 3.
