Question 66

Part (a)

The bottom portion of the graph crosses the origin, where the x-intercept is the line x = 0.

Part (b)

0 = 2x/(x - 3)

0(x - 3) = 2x/(x - 3) • (x - 3)/1

0 = 2x

0/2 = x

0 = x

Question 68

Part (a)

The top portion of the graph crosses the point
(1, 0), where the x-intercept is the line x = 1.

Part (b)

0 = x - 3 + (2/x)

0 = (x^2 - 3x + 2)/x

0 = x^2 - 3x + 2

0 = (x - 2) (x - 1)

x = 2, x = 1
