Section 4.3

I need the set up for parts (a - c). I can then take it from there.

let vertical rise be r, hypothenuse h, angle alpha,
height H

(a) Find the vertical rise of the inclined plane. (in feet)
r/h=sin (alpha)

(b) Find the elevation of the lower end of the inclined plane.(in feet)

elevation =H-r

(c)The cars move up the mountain at a rate of 300 feet per minute. Find the rate at which they rise vertically. (in ft/min)

divide 896.5 / 300ft/min to get a rate

Perfect. Thanks.

Note: Look for David Cohen questions in my FB Precalculus group. Why not use the FB group? Right? So, David Cohen on FB and Ron Larson here. I will look for more people to join my group.
