    Question 4

Match each function h with the transformation it represents, where c > 0.

    (a) h(x) = f(x) + c

I say (a) is a match for (iv).

    (b) h(x) = f(x) − c

I say (b) is a match for (ii).

    (c) h(x) = f(x + c)

I say (c) is a match for (iii).

    (d) h(x) = f(x − c)

    I say (d) is a match for (i).

    (i) A horizontal shift of f, c units to the right.

(ii) A vertical shift of f, c units down.

(iii) A horizontal shift of f, c units to the left.

(iv) A vertical shift of f, c units up.
