I forgot the specific chapter and section. Thus, I don't recall the definition for (VO)^2 and (VA)^2. I do recall, however, that this question is found in David Cohen's Precalculus With Unit Circle Trigonometry Edition 4. Looks like a parabola problem to me. I will try searching for the information you requested on my days off, which are Saturday and Sunday.
